IH 35 Frontage Road Conversion and Ramp Reversals
Location IH-35 from Bud Stockton Loop south of Jarrell, TX to the FM 972 Overpass north of Georgetown, TX
Description The project will implement the conversion of two-way frontage roads to one-way and the removal and reconstruction of existing IH-35 ramps within the project limits.

Design was completed by Binkley & Barfield. An open house was held on Thursday June 30, 2016. A summary of the open house can be found under Project Documents. Construction has been funded by TxDOT. The contractor is Dan Williams Company. Construction began summer 2019 and is anticipated to be completed in fall 2020.

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) opened the new I-35 entrance ramp north of Ronald Reagan Boulevard on October 8, 2020. Oct. 9, crews opened the new CR 143 exit (#270). On Oct. 13, the new FM 972 exit (#268) opened. At the same time, the existing exit will permanently close to traffic. (See attached map.). Once all three ramps have been opened, southbound I-35 will be in its final configuration within the project limits, and the project team will shift their focus to constructing the remaining ramps along northbound I-35 in late 2020. This improvement is a part of the project's overall design to reverse all entrance and exit ramps within the 6-mile project limits to improve safety, mobility, and connectivity. Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the upcoming changes. TxDOT asks drivers to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone. See map of ramps here.
