One of the major functions of county government is to build and maintain a network of roads and bridges in unincorporated areas of the county. The County Engineer/Road & Bridge Division has that responsibility. Williamson County is responsible for maintaining approximately 1,400 miles of county roads spread over an area of 1,124 square miles.
The County Engineer/Road & Bridge Division is also responsible for:
- Enforcing of the development requirements in the Subdivision Regulations.
- Inspecting of county and subdivision road construction as well as utility installation in county right-of-way.
- Right-of-Way acquisition.
Williamson County Fleet Services takes care of all the County’s vehicles including
maintenance, repairs, body work, and fueling infrastructure. Fleet
Services is involved with vehicles from purchasing to auction and keeps
records on each vehicle. Williamson County has approximately 750 pieces
of equipment and vehicles to maintain, including 36 propane powered
vehicles. The Fleet Services director is appointed by the Senior
Director of the Department of Infrastructure.
The Facilities Maintenance Division is responsible for maintenance of all county owned
facilities and grounds, including major and minor repairs, remodeling,
new construction, cleaning and grounds keeping. The Facilities
Maintenance Department is located at 3101 SE Inner Loop in Georgetown
and can be contacted by email at
facilities@wilco.org. The facilities maintenance director is appointed by the Senior Director of the Department of Infrastructure.
