Judge Doug Arnold, County Court at Law Three

Judge ArnoldDoug Arnold took office December 1, 2010 after being appointed to fill the unexpired term of his predecessor. Prior to his appointment, Judge Arnold won two contested elections for the position.

A sixth-generation Texan, Judge Arnold has lived and served in Williamson County since 1998. Prior to serving as judge of County Court Three, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Williamson County from April 1998 through November 2010. Prior to that, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County, Texas from 1994-1998. Prior to his career as a prosecutor, he worked at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals as a briefing attorney to Judge Charles Campbell.

Judge Arnold graduated from Seguin High School in Seguin, Texas in 1986. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990. He received his law degree from Vanderbilt University in 1993.

Judge Arnold has repeatedly trained prosecutors, attorneys in private practice, police officers, probation officers, and judges on various aspects of law, trials, and appeals. He is board certified in criminal law and criminal appeals. He is licensed to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States. He is currently a member of the Williamson County Inn of Court.

Judge Arnold lives in Georgetown with his wife Jamie, a psychology professor, and his sons Drew and Dan.  He currently volunteers for the Georgetown High School Tennis Boosters.  He has served on the Boards of Directors of the Georgetown Dribblers and the Williamson Museum. Judge Arnold and his family are members of First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown. In his spare time, Judge Arnold enjoys sports, reading, and following his children’s activities.

Courtroom Requirements
Please dress appropriately. Shorts, tank tops, clothing with offensive language or logos, and inappropriate/provocative clothing are not permitted in the courtroom. ALSO, please make arrangements for child care. The minimum age requirements are as follows: for family dockets, no one under 17 years old will be allowed in the courtroom; and for criminal dockets, no one under age 14 will be permitted inside the courtroom.
