Williamson County is hosting its own Learn to Fish event in the Southwest Regional Park, 3005 CR 175, in Leander on Saturday, August 28, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children of all ages will be able to spend time learning various fishing tips and techniques from local experts.

Neighborhoods throughout Williamson County are invited to join with thousands of communities nationwide on Tuesday, August 3rd 2010, to participate in the 27th Annual "National Night Out".

Williamson County received just 33 responses to its online survey regarding the proposed landfill Master Recycling and Site Development plans. In addition, the County received 10 written statements with comments. Overarching trends in survey responses include that 100 percent stated that recycling is very or somewhat important, and 85 percent were very or somewhat supportive of improving safety and traffic flow at the landfill and recycling drop-off center.

If you are planning a July outing in one of Williamson County’s parks or preserves, get your camera ready! The month of July is recognized nationally as Park and Recreation Month. Local residents are invited to participate in the national “Celebrate, Advocate, Recreate!” campaign to gain “exposure” for county parks by submitting photo imagery of their favorite scenic or action shots taken in any Williamson County park or recreation facility.
