"Leave No Trace for Williamson County Preserves" Training July 31
The Williamson County Conservation Foundation is offering another “Leave No Trace for Williamson County Preserves” training for people who want to access County preserve areas. The next training will be held on Monday, July 31, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Williamson County Central Maintenance Facility training room, 3151 S.E. Inner Loop, in Georgetown. To reserve a spot in the class, send an email to wccf@wilco.org and include "LNT" in the subject line.

Burn Ban Issued July 11
On July 11, 2017, Williamson County Commissioners Court approved the implementation of a County Burn Ban for a period not to exceed 90 days and to authorize County Judge Dan A. Gattis to lift the ban when conditions improve. To view a copy of the order, click here.

The office of Justice of the Peace Judy Schier Hobbs, Precinct 4, will be closed from Monday, July 10, through Wednesday, July 12, 2017, for court personnel training. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 9 a.m.

Tax Office in Cedar Park Begins Remodel July 17
The Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office In Cedar Park, Texas, will be closed on Monday, July 17, as crews begin construction on an extensive remodel of the tax office. The office will reopen the following day on Tuesday, July 18, with limited staff using temporary space in the same building.  The temporary space will be in use until completion of the remodel, estimated for January 2018.  Improvements being made include the addition of a drive-thru, expanded lobby seating, more efficient work space and additional workstations for future growth.

June is National PTSD Awareness Month

June is National Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness (PTSD) Month. PTSD is a form of anxiety that can be caused after someone experiences extreme trauma, such as being involved in a serious accident, an assault or abuse, a natural disaster, or exposure to combat. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs states that PTSD is the third most common mental condition among veterans in the Veterans Affairs (V.A.) hospital system.
