The AirCheckTexas - Drive a Clean Machine Repair and Replacement Assistance Program is designed to help vehicle owners comply with vehicle emissions standards to reduce ozone-forming exhaust from on-road motor vehicles. It focuses on the highest emission vehicles and provides an incentive for citizens to contribute to the regional air quality solution.

Vehicle owners and their registered vehicles in the Williamson County may be eligible for repair assistance if their vehicle fails the mandatory emissions inspection test up to $600 for emission related repairs is available if qualified. Up to $3,500 is available for replacement of vehicles that are ten years old or older and have passed both safety and emissions on the inspection test or have recently failed an emissions test.

Model Year UPDATE - Wednesday, September 03, 2014

On September 1, 2014, the AirCheckTexas - Drive a Clean Machine program will have changes to the eligibility requirements for ALL replacement vehicles.

Effective September 1, 2014, eligible vehicles are:
  • Model year 2015-2012 cars, SUVs, and vans;
  • Model year 2015-2013 pickup trucks; and
  • Model year 2015-2012 hybrid, electric, natural gas and all vehicles that have been certified to meet federal Tier 2, Bin 3 or cleaner Bin certification vehicles.
Model year 2011 cars, SUVs and vans and 2012 trucks will be removed from the eligibility lists and will no longer be eligible for purchase under the DACM program after August 31, 2014. All vehicles sold on or after September 1 must meet new eligibility criteria, regardless of the voucher's date of issue or expiration, or status of ongoing sales negotiations with the dealer.
